  1. There are many riddles told in our district the following are some of them:-
    Eight arms but no hand,
    A wooden leg but cannot stand,
    Is often wet but cannot feel,
    Has no boots but is shod with steel,
    A dress of silk with a belt round the middle
    Now you can guess this silly riddle?
    Answer. An umbrella.
    As black as soot, as white as snow, goes hopping on the road like hailstones.
    Answer. a magpie.
    What has one head, one foot and four legs? Answer. a bed.
    What bed is soft, well covered and nicely made yet is not meant to be slept in?
    Answer. a flower bed.
    What carries water and it all full of holes? Answer. a sponge.
    A house full, a room full, you could not catch a spoonful. Answer. Smoke.
    Why is a black hen more clever than a white one? Answer. Because a black hen can lay a white egg, but a white hen can't lay a black egg.
