- There is a hidden treasure in the townland of Auchtnagleer. There is a large stone standing near it. Long ago three men from the townland met two other men and they told them they would bring them to where money was hidden.they brought them to the stone and told them to dig under it but nobody was to talk or curse until it was found. They started to dig and it was not long until one of their spades hit something hard and he shouted and said he had it. The two men dissappeared and they lost sight of the gold. When they lost it they threw down their spades and ran. there were many attempts made to find it but it could never be found. Anyone ever past by it saw a large black cat sitting at the stone. The stone is still called the golden stone.There is another treasure hidden in the Blackstairs mountains in a place called Cathir Ruad's den. There is a boot of gold supposed to be hidden there. It is said he took that gold from welthy people around him. Long ago there was a light seen over the den every nightThere is a story told in the district about him. There a large bar of gold in Butler's castle at Tinnahinch. One of the servants(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
