  1. Local Ruins
    In the old graveyard which is situated at the end of Church Lane in Castle Street there are the ruins of an old church. This church is known as St. Brendan's Church. Very little now remains of this apparently once fine church. The belfry is still standing and is in good condition. The door leading to it seems to have been about 6 or 7 ft. high and about seven feet wide. It is arched at the top. There is nothing now to indicate that there was a winding stairs leading to the top. Leading from the belfry to the main portion of the church is another archway. The four walls of the main building are in fairly good condition. On the eastern wall opposite the belfry there seems to have been two large windows. On the southern wall is the iron door which is the entrance into the vault of the Parson family. On the northern side are the remains of three windows smaller than those on
