  2. Penal Times

    There are few remains of Penal Times in the District of Birr. The most noted of these is probably Leap Castle. The owner of that castle used to trap priests and kill them. He made slaves of Irish Catholics.
    The master of the castle was very friendly with one of these slaves and allowed him to speak
