- Long ago people cured ailments by some ailments by herbs because they were very far from doctors and at that time doctors were few. If they were near a doctor they might be too poor to pay him. Sometimes they went to a man in the district and he cured them. There were a great many ailments which they were able to cure by herbs.
Sty in the eye. A sty in the eye was cured by getting a thorn of a gooseberry bush and make the sign of the cross over the sty. Then you must prod it nine times and the sty will get cured. The sty will get bigger if you be handling it.
Wild fire. The remedy for curing Wild fire is to go to a person that has the charm and let him cut his hand and the person hand. Then he must mix his blood and the persons blood and the will get cured.
