When the red is on the sky in the morning you will have rain that evening or the next day.
When the circle is round the moon, rain.
When a star is running along the sky it is the sign of storm or snow.
When the birds come to the window in winter it is a sign of hard weather.
Swallows low, bad weather; high, fine.
When a cat is drinking cold weather, or coughing, bad weather.
Cattle lying on the grass on frosty morning sign of bad weather.
Hills blue in summer, good weather.
When the moon is on its back, bad weather.
A haw year, a graw year.
A sloe year, a woe year.
The further the circle from the moon the nearer the rain, and vice versa.
If the cat scratches his nails on wood it is a sign of storm.
Curlews whistling, rain.
Wild geese flying inland or south, bad weather.
If starlings flock about the cattle's foot, frost.
If the sheep walk about in the night it will rain before morning.
