    Local Place Names.
    There is a bush in the middle of a field behind Byrne's house in Blakefield called "The Forbidden Bush." It is a whitethorn bush with no thorns, very old, mossy, and stones around it. No one ever cut it. Mass supposed to have been said under it in Penal Times.
    A field near this bush is called the "Scairleheen." A priest was said to have hidden here.
    A field behind Dempsey's of Ballysooghan is called "The Long Craft."
    Another filed on this farm is called The Big Kelly, and another The Little bells.
    There is a field beside the road in Ballysooghan called The Big Field. In this field there is a big flat stone about one foot under the round. This stone is about 7 feet by 3.
    On the same farm is a field called the Class Field. Hollow in centre of field.
    A field behind Dempsey's of Blakefield is called the "Machroon."
