  1. Situated to the West of Clonroche a National School is a hill. It is called Ballinclay
    It is surrounded by a wood. In the Penal Laws people could not hear Mass in the Churches.
    The Priests had to say Mass in the open air.
    One day when the Priest was saying Mass a band of soldiers came up the wood and hanged him.
    This is generally the wood where people go when they are hunting rabbits. Those people has? heard of this happening and the go to see where this priest was hanged.
    Those people are able to find the place because the grass never grow where the blood fell and it is said that red moss grows there
