  1. Some days of the week are regarded as being lucky or unlucky. With regard to marriage the following rhyme was made
    Monday for health,
    Tuesday for wealth,
    Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    and Saturday no day at all.
    The 15th May is considered late for sowing mangolds and the 15th June is considered late for sowing turnips.
    If you buy a brush in May you sweep the luck away.
    Some farmers would not give away milk on May day because they would have no butter the next time the churning would take place.
