  1. I heard a story told by a man named Mr. Carroll. It was told to him by a woman known by the people then as Granny Lynch.
    It is about a treasure supposed to be hidden in Ballymackessy Wood. It is supposed to be hidden in a boot and consists of gold.
    It was hidden there by a party known as the Hessians. These were Germans who came to help the English in 1798.
