  1. Glenrose
    One evening in the month of May
    I carelessly did stray,
    ‘Twas down by the Courtown Harbour
    By chance I took my way.
    And as I walked along the beach
    Where billows foam did roar
    A crowd of people did collect
    Convenient to the shore.
    II
    With hasty steps I did approach
    Expecting something new
    When a painful voice said
    “Alas what will I do
    I fear that Glenrose she is lost
    And buried in the wave,
    And that her bold undaunted crew
    Has met with a watery grave.
    III
    I then addressed this fair maid
    Who seemed to be in grief
    I told her to cheer her spirits,
    She soonmight meet relief.
    “How many hands had been on board”
    I then to her did say
    “How long have they been absent
