  1. In olden times people took three meals a day, which were breakfast, dinner and supper.
    In the summer-time the had the breakfast at four or five oclock in the morning, which consisted of porridge and buttermilk.
    They had their dinner at twelve oclock which consisted of potatoe and buttermilk, or potatoes and cabbage and if the cabbage ws scarse they ate turnip-tops, or nettles, or water-cress which tasted just the same.
