  1. As Cromwell entered the town in 1649, the men of Wexford went to defend the gates, while their wives + children and others clustered around two Friars in the Bull-Ring. The names of these friars was Fr. Stafford and Fr. Raymond.
    As Cromwell's soldiers were departing the Wexford men, Fr. Stafford began the Act of Contrition. The people joined him, while Fr. Raymond began Absolution
