  1. By the Mance in Wexford a small lane called the "Mance Lane". Long ago, there was a little thatched house in this lane
    In this cottage there lived a married couple.
    It was in the time of *Cromall* and the husband was fighting for his faith.
    One night after the man had run home to rest a loud knocking was heard at the door. The woman was afraid, but what she saw made her still more so .... There in the pale moonlight stood Cromall himself But to her surprise all he asked for was a drink of water and getting it, he went away. He came back again and gave her a silver flask.
