  1. Long ago there was a man in Lisderry, who kept a lot of cows. There was a fort near his house and there were fairies in the fort. One night he went out to milk the cows and they would not give any milk. He went to the fort at twelve and he saw the fairies, but they would not speak, only started laughing at him. He went to the priest the next morning and told him. The priest told him to burn a handful of straw under each cow. When he did this the cows gave their milk alright again.
