    firewood but the butt of it is there still. A cross was put in the butt of it & his name was written on it. On the butt is : John Clarke was killed here in 1928 R.I.P.

  2. Long ago there used to be an old beggarman seen under a bush on the road leading from Ledwithstown to Gurteen. He died under this bush and ever since the bush is known as the beggar's bush.
