  1. There is an old fort in Payne's land in Dermacar. A lot of strange things are supposed to have happened in it. When John Payne died about three yrs ago, there was a man going to his wake, and he heard a man playing a fiddle in the fort. One there was a man coming from Newtowncashel. It was late in the evening and a sow came out of the hedge. The sow followed him up the road and then she went into Payne's. He thought it was an ordinary one but after he was told it was a Ghost.
