  1. A man named Paddy Carr lived in Derogue. He was kilnman in Shrule mills at this time. He carried eight cwts of sulphur from the bridge with the three arches over the Inny into the kiln. He carried out this big weight in his bare feet. The distance was about twelve yards. He died about 80 years ago.

  2. Sandy McCord that lives on the canal banks is supposed to have tied two half - hundred weights together with a rope. Then he hung them from his little finger and then he wrote his name on the door of Shrule mills.
