  1. Once upon a time there was a poor man and a woman who had nothing to depend on except a garden of white cabbage and two pigs.
The man got one of the pigs killed and when he was going to work next morning he said to his wife "Keep a pound of bacon for every head of cabbage in the garden."
When he went away the woman went out in the garden and counted every head of cabbage in it. Then she cut a pound of bacon for each and put it on the cabbage. When the man came home he asked her "where is the bacon for my dinner?" and she said she out it all on the cabbage.
