  1. There lived in the west of Ireland some years ago, a farmer who had two horses for sale. One day a ragged looking man came, and bought the white horse and went away with the horse without paying for him. About a week afterwards the man came back with the horse, and said that he would bring the other animal.
    The farmer asked him to pay him, but the man said that he gave him the white horse for the other horse. The farmer said that he did not pay for the white horse. But the man said he gave the white horse back. Then the man rode away leaving the farmer very angry.
