  1. Hay ropes are very common in my district. The hay rope is very strong if made properly. They are used in all hay making. The best way for making a hay rope is , get a piece of bull [wine] and make it in the shape of a twister. Then get an elder and bore a hole in it and put it into the part that you are going to hold.
    There are a lot of other ways of making hay ropes as, twisting the rope with the head of a rake or with a piece of a stick about 8 inches long. Fasten the hay from the hay cock to the middle of the stick, and twist the stick then
