  1. Walshestown is the name of my Towland. It is situated about two miles North West of Mullingar in the barony of Moyashel and Magheradernan.
It contains about fifty families with an average of four, five or six in each family and of this population about twelve are over seventy years of age. They do not know Irish.
It is a subparish of Mullingar and has its own Chapel and school.
The principal industry is stock rearing and horse breeding. There is a fair acreage in tillage growing wheat, oats, and potatoes but however much more of it might be under the plough as it is all good land.
