  1. Long ago the people would never get doctors but had cures such as the cure of the running worm, the burst, the rose, the whooping cough, the thorn, wart and mumps.
    The seveneth son or daughter has the cure of the running-worm. A man named Mr Mc Cormock of Hilltown has the cure of it.
    There is a well in Bigwood and it is called the "Rose Well" and it cures the rose which is a big red lump and it comes out generally comes out on the back. You must be there at the well before the sun goes down in the evening.
    If you had the whooping-cough your god-mother would have to buy a red-ribbon and tie it round your neck and in a few days it would be cured.
    The mumps are cured by putting a donkey's winkers on and by leading you round the pig-sty.
    A child who would be born after his Father's death would have the cure of the dirty-mouth.
    Mrs Mc Cormock of Carlanstown has the cure of the thorn. You would have to go
