  1. 1. Long ago when there were not so many doctors as there are now, people had cures of their own for many diseases.
    2. One of the cures for a headache was to soak brown paper in vinegar and bandage your head with with it.
    3. Roast salt put in a stocking and tied it around the nick was a cure for sore throat.
    4. A herb known as the plantain leaf is a very good cure for cuts.
    5. Warts burned a hazel stick is very successful.
    6 Heartburn. A teaspoonful of bread soda taken in buttermilk gives relief.
