  1. Sample ground plan of an old house.
    Fire place in gable with very wide chimney or sometimes the smoke simply went up along the gable wall and escaped by hole in roof. A kind of rough porch was erected inside the door. The bed was placed in a corner near the fire and sometimes a second bed was in the opposite corner.
