    On the 15th day of August in the year of '43
    That glorious day we well may say recorded it shall be
    On the royal hill of Tara where thousands did prevail
    With union bands to join their hands and Dan for the Repale (Repeal)
    To see the flags of Drogheda with their harmonious band
    And all with sacred music round the croppies grave did stand
    Where is the heart that could not feel nor eye diffuse a tear
