  1. At the top of Magdalene St. stands an old ruin called Magdalene Tower. It was built by the Dominican monks in the 13th century and many of them are buried there. It is said that there is a secret passage running from this tower down to the Old Abbey in which the Augustinian monks lived. It is a fine old ruin. It was destroyed by the English and the monks were obliged to leave it and seek safety elsewhere.
