  1. One dark winter's night in the year 1908 there was a boy going from Drogheda to Banktown.
    His name was Patrick Dillon.
As he was walking past Beaulieu Cross a big black dog stepped out on the road. The boy took no heed till he came to the place where the Cement Factory is now. Then the dog left him behind and vanished through a stone wall. The boy ran home as fast as his legs could carry him.
When he went home he went to bed and did not get up for three days after.
That very night somebody died in Beaulieu.
