  1. My aunt's mother used to walk from her own house in the Mountains to Drogheda at about two o' clock, a distance of ten miles, each way.
    She also walked from from her own house to Co. Monaghan, and home the same night, a distance of twenty miles each was.

  2. A Great disaster occured about fifty years ago in Port in this parish.
    It was a ship load of cocoanut that was going to Dundalk, and a great storm arose, and the ship went down.
    All the cocoanuts came floating in, and the people brought them home and made noggins
