  1. Holy Water is sprinkled on the Christmas plum pudding when it is being placed in the pot. The idea is to prevent the water surrounding the pudding from entering.
    Sprinkling Holy water on hatching so that all the eggs will bring forth birds.
    Sprinkling holy water in the house during thunderstorm to protect the home from lightning.
    Holy water is sprinkled on seed when it is being sown so the crop will be successful.
    When funerals come to this local graveyard from Co Meath, the priest does not usually accompany the funeral. On such occasions the deceased relatives bring with them a parcel of clay blessed by the priest. This clay is put on the coffin immediately after the coffin has been placed in the grave.
    Holy water is also sprinkled
