    I often heard of her from my father and other men of that generation
    Here under are some verses composed by her owner W. Gavin.
    The Creeper
    I once had a little mare called the "Creeper"
    A fourteen hands high little black
    She carried me for many a season
    As a huntress as well as a hack.
    Now you'll scarcely believe what I tell you
    I rode her fourteen stone or more
    And when meeting with horses of quality
    She was only a pigmy to score.
    But when hounds were running their hardest
    Their quality was of little avail
    As she showed them her heels o'er the country
    Wherever we met without fail
    One day I will always remember
    With Dick Stockpoole's hounds we were out
