    About a mile or a mile and a half south of the village of Golden and on the left bank of the Suir stands an old Norman castle which has not yet bent its proud head to its cruel master time who has so often driven his storms whirling and whistling round its still firm walls.
    The old wooden staircase shows only very few signs of decay. It is made as a winding stairs and leads into a square room whose side is about twenty feet. From this you may climb to the top of the building, but to get to the right place you must needs go further and creep on your hands and
