  1. How long should a sensible person sleep in every twenty-four hours? To this question I came on a traditional answer as follows:-
If you would have your proper sleep what are the hours that you should keep?
    Nature asks five,
    Custom gives seven,
    Laziness takes nine,
    And wickedness eleven.
So split the difference and take eight hours say I."

  2. Once upon a time there lived a very mean old lady who used always give very poor meals to the workmen. On a certain day she left down a big plate of soup and a little bit of meat to the workman. She went out the door and when she came in she found that the workman had taken off his coat. The lady said: "James what have you your coat off for?" He said: "Begor I was thinking of swimming in for the meat, mam."
