    5. There was a man in Carrick on Suir, named Thomas Kiely who was the greatest all around athlete that Ireland ever produced. He won the all around athletic World's championship in St. Louis in America. His principal opponent was a man by the name of Sheridan, who a that time was champion athlete of America.
    The competition included running long and short distances, hurdle-races, jumping high and long, walking, weight throwing, pushing and hammer throwing. There was an enormous crowd of onlookers for this great event. I never heard of a man that
