  2. The kind of houses that were there in former times, the roofs of them were thatched and the walls were made of mud. They were thatched with reed, straw and rushes. The reed and the straw grew in the gardens and the rushes grew in the bogs and fields. There used to be a very big settlebed in every kitchen and six or seven people would sleep in them. There was an old man in Puckaun and he had a very big bed in his kitchen and all the newly married couples around the district used to sleep in it. It used to contain about fourteen people and they used to call it Mountrascal. The fireplace used to be in
