    several packs of hounds and when one of these was poisoned whilst he was out hunting he shot the rest and took all his horses with him out to England. It was then his loss was felt locally. After some time when the boycott had died down – it was never a real success – he returned home.
    Meeting the tenants one by one he settled with them all and being a good man he gave them more than they expected. Some of the ringleaders he treated very fair by buying out their farms altogether and attaching them to his own. He then bought farms for them many miles from Bruree.
    Everything settled down peaceably after this and until his death this landlord was respected by all and more especially by the poor people of Bruree.
