   Some years later this man and a number of other farmers got well into arrears of rent with their new landlord. Things were becoming so serious that he had to threaten eviction himself. One day these farmers held a meeting and decided to approach the landlord for an abatement in the rent. They called at his house and he received them kindly and when they asked for 25% off the rent he agreed and they parted in the best of terms. Arriving out to the rest of their comrades who waited outside on the road they related what took place. It was then decided that they did not ask for enough and they returned to the landlord for a further reduction of 25% more.
   This time he ordered them from his door and refused to take one penny off the arrears. Eviction followed eviction till three farmers were without a home one a poor widow with a child in arms. The tenants were not idle either. They called a big meeting for the following Sunday when a large crowd marched through Bruree and called on everyone to boycott the landlord. At this time nearly all the poor of Bruree depended for their livelihood on this landlord who employed everyone who sought for work.
   Nearly all stood by him. He owned
