  1. Wheaten bread and barley bread were used in olden times. It was made from wheat and barley.
    Wheaten bread was made locally.
    There was a grinding in the district also.
    Querns were used for grinding wheat in former times they were made from stone.
    The principal kinds of breads used in former times where wheaten bread, barley bread, and stampy. The bread used to made in a timber lossat and baked in a bastable. There was also bread made from the potato and it was called stampy.
