  1. There is about half an acre of potatoes grown on my farm every year.
    My father prepares the ground for the potatoes. The ground has to be manured at first. It makes the ground rich to grown the potatoes. The potatoes are sown both in ridges and drills.
    RIdges are made with a spade by the hand.
    The drills are made with a plough, and a pair of horses.
    Wooden ploughs were used in olden times, but not at the present time. Iron ploughs are used nowadays. Wooden ploughs are still in use in Germany and other foreign countries.
    The handles of spades are made locally, but hte spade's are bought in the shops.
