    Trenching.
The trenching takes place when the little stalks appear on the ridges. Fresh earth is dug out of the furrows and thrown up on the ridges. This is done to prevent the frost from affecting the potatoes.
    Spraying.
When the stalks are large they are sprayed with blue stone and washing soda and water to prevent blight.
    Digging the potatoes.
In October our potatoes are dug. We dig them with spades and pick them according as they are dug. Then they are stored in clay pits. They should be turned now & then to keep them from decaying.
