  1. Tradition says that there is a valuable treasure hidden in the present townland of Temple Athea near where the old monastry was long ago.
    Two of Queen Elizabeth's soldiers were passing from Glin Castle to Port and when the monks heard it they put all the valuable vessels of the monastry into a cow hide and they buried it somewhere near the monastery.
