The crew immediately fired distress signals which were seen by the people on the shore, who got lanterns as it was now dark. The local life saving apparatus was immediately summoned and arrived after a short time, but their services were not required as a lifeboat upon the doomed ship was instantly launched by the crew. They all arrived safely on the shore, owing to the guide of the lanterns of the people.
