    1. "Goin' round with the Wran"
    boys gather - dress themselves up in old clothes belonging to adults blacken their faces or wear "face and eyes" (masks) and decorate a holly bush with ribbons or coloured paper streamers.
    Then they go round from house to house Singing "The Wran" and asking for "A penny for the wran". They divide the money they collect.
    Song:
    The wran, the wran, the king of all birds
    On Christmas Day, was caught in the furze
    They hunted him up and they hunted him down
    Till one of the wran boys knocked him down
    Here he is, here he is, as you may see
    Well decorated on a holly tree.
