    On the forth of September 1916, some dashing young fellows that day were seen

    When she thought on the day,
    We evicted Pad Lyons,
    She rallied once more and fainted again,
    When she thought on the day we arrested Ned Lane,
    'Twas early next morning the Tans ran the race,
    Like the 'bobbies' of old, never in the right place.
    An Examiner reporter stood there with his book,
    To record the details of old Castlecooke,
    A photographer from Fermoy was the next on the scene,
    I scarcely can tell you how sorry Ive been,
    This is what he said with a laugh and a mock,
    As he sketched out the ruins of old Castle-Cooke.
    "I went to reside in the town of Fermoy,
    Oh! what a change from the clear country-side,
    My head it is shattered, my nerves they are shook,
    As I go out in my armour to old Castlecooke,
    At each end of the road I put up my head,
    And when I go home I wish I was dead,
    My wife and my daughters are shaking with fear,
    We will go back to England by the end of the year.
    Now no longer a mansion but a wreck to behold,
    My wife and my daughters are missing some gold,
    They dismantled my saddle, oh! yes and my trap,
    And scarce left me a coat to wrap round my back,
