  1. OLD PRAYERS
    This a prayer said by old women before going to sleep:
    “There are four corners in my bed
    There are four angels o’er my head.
    Matthew, Mark, Luke and John
    God bless the bed that I lay on.”
    When a person is going on a journey, say to him “God speed you”, “God be with you” or “God guard you”
    When a person goes into a house or a field where people are working say “God bless the work”
    When a person gets anything from another he says “God increase you” or “God spare you your health.”
    When a person hears of somebody having a great illness he says “God between us and all harm”.
    At Christmas people say “May we be all together again this time twelve months with God’s help.
