  1. On St Stephen's Day the young boys go in groups from house to house singing -
    "The wren, the wren
    The king of all birds ;
    St Stephen's Day he was caught in the furze ;
    Although he is little,
    His family is great ;
    So rise up landlady
    And give us a trate ;
    Up with the kettle
    And down with the pan,
    Give us our answer
    And let us be gone"
    Each group has a decorated holly bush on which is supposed to be a dead wren. Each wren boy has a special variegated suit for the occasion, and he is usually masked. Some parties have musical instruments
