at nightfall, to the roof of Miss McCarthy's house at Fortgrady, situated about 300 yards from the lios. The animal used to carry on all kinds of antics on the roof. One night the neighbours gathered to chase it away, It made for the lios, and when it came to a certain port of if disappeared.
James Behan of Banteer West, says that men came to this fort to dig for treasure. As soon as they had started work, an animal like a bull roared out "Brasil", "Brasil". The men ran in all directions, and the fort is still known as "Lios-a-Brasil". The men could distinctly see a light in the fort as they ran. This fort is square in shape surrounded by a black-thorn hedge, and an edging of rocks. There is a round hole in the centre. Patsy Sullivan, of Banteer, says, that every time people made an attempt to enter this hole, it closed in gradually on them. A hole lined with rock, shaped like a horse-shoe, is connected with the fort. Farm animals, such as sheep, shelter here in bad weather.
