  1. Long ago there was a hag around the district of Kishkeam, in the parish of Kilmeen, in the Barony of Duhallow in the County of Cork. She hunted Oscar the grandson of Fionn from place to place trying to get married to him. Oscar did not want this so he ran from her. Near Kiskeam the river Araglen flows between two rocks.
When Oscar came to this he did not know what to do, so he made an attempt to jump from one rock to the other. He did not jump far enough so he fell into the river. The hag came running along and stepped from one rock across the river to the other. When she saw Oscar inside in the river she said she would not marry him now as he could not jump across the river. The village near where this happened is still called "Coiscéim na Callaighe " which means the "Step of the old hag.
