  1. During the Land League Days there was a priest in Schull named Fr Murphy who did his best for the people of the district against the landlords. The English soldiers did their best to capture him but failed to do so. One day a rumour went out that the soldiers were coming to Schull to take him and that a gun-boat was in Schull harbour to take him to prison.
