By commission of Charles II, the lands were again restored to Tadhg's son (Tadhg a Dúna II)
The lands were again forfeited in 1690, the family having supported James II. The clansmen remained as tenants on the lands and the MacCarthys took service in France.
There is a well in Glouneycarney locally known as Tobar Thaidhg a'Dúna. It is tradition that Tadhg a'Dúna, being an outlaw, was shot dead by English soldiers near the spot where now stands the well.
I got some of the above information from Mrs Murphy, Togher, who died about eight years ago. The remainder of the information I got from an old book bequeathed to Mrs Murphy by her brother, the late Canon Lyons.
